CHRIS JERICHO Says 'Judas' Has Become FOZZY's 'Enter Sandman' Or 'You Shook Me All Night Long'

Ty Jordan of Winnipeg's Power 97 radio station recently conducted an interview with FOZZY singer and WWE wrestling superstar Chris Jericho. You can now listen to the chat using the SoundCloud widget below.

Speaking about the success of "Judas", the title track of FOZZY's latest album, Chris said: "For whatever reason, people really connected with that song. And it has become kind of the song that's synonymous with FOZZY — kind of our career song at this point. It's our 'Enter Sandman' or 'You Shook Me All Night Long' or one of those songs that when you think of a band, you automatically think of that tune. And 'Judas' has become that for us — it became a legit hit single. And once you have that elusive hit single, it takes your band to a completely different level, and we've seen that all across the board since it was released. So getting it played before hockey games, during hockey games — I mean, they play it all the time in certain arenas, like Columbus and Washington and Anaheim and Vegas; now Winnipeg as well, and Toronto. So when you get one of those songs that they're playing in between 'We Will Rock You' and 'You Give Love A Bad Name', or whatever it may be, it's kind of cool as well."

Asked if there is anything more he and his bandmates could have hoped for in terms of "Judas"'s accomplishments, Chris said: "Really, there isn't, 'cause even when you're talking about the sales and the amount of streams, in this day age, when nobody is buying music and 'Judas' literally sold over a hundred thousand singles and it streamed, I think, 20 million times. As far as it goes on that aspect, no. I think maybe the only thing is to be the theme song for a huge movie, like 'Mission Impossible 6', with 'Judas' being the theme, is probably the next biggest thing we could get. But other than that, you can't ask for anything else. And like I said, when you get a song like that, it really takes all the other songs and everything else about the band up to a different level as well. I call it the 'Judas Effect' — we kind of got caught up in this huge tornado of a song that just raised everything about the entire band."

"Judas" came out in October 2017 via Century Media. The production duties on the disc were handled by Johnny Andrews, who co-wrote FOZZY's "Lights Go Out" track back in 2014 and has written songs with the likes of ALL THAT REMAINS, THREE DAYS GRACE and HALESTORM in the past.

FOZZY will support IRON MAIDEN on September 14, 2019 at the Banc Of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
